How do MX record priorities work?

MX record priority determines the order in which mail servers are used when sending email to your domain. A lower number indicates higher priority. If the primary server (with the lowest priority number) is unavailable, the sending server will attempt to deliver to the next one, based on priority.

Good to Know: It’s good practice to have backup MX records with higher priority numbers to ensure email delivery even if one server is down.
